Advocacy services

If you are ready to hire us as an advocate, here are some things we address:

  • Attending IEP and evaluation meetings (in-person or virtual)

  • Reviewing educational and evaluation documents

  • Communicating with parents via phone, email, or written correspondence

  • Drafting letters and recommendations to schools.

Document Review

$75 flat fee

I will review IEPs, data sheets, evaluation reports, teacher correspondences, and other school data. The purpose of a document review is to determine if IEPs are being followed, if Least Restrictive Environment is being adhered to, and if there’s missing information.

Without data to support, schools should not be making decisions based on feelings. Data should support decisions in special education.

Communication

Short emails, calls, or texts are free.

Consultations are free.

If you need to meet with me in person, via phone, or virtually for lengthy conversations, plans, or questions, the charge is $60 an hour.

Communication is integral to understanding the root of the problem or to find best solutions. If we need to schedule time to talk, we can discuss data, teacher correspondence, school performances and I can provide suggestions on next steps, what to say in an email, and how to address things on your own.

Meetings

There are many situations where parents have tried their best and are still being unheard. In these situations, it may be best for me to attend the meetings with you. I can help mediate concerns, paired with parental and child rights, and work with schools to achieve a solution that works for your child. I believe schools have incredible teachers, but sometimes need help finding solutions to help every child. More often than not, a meeting can alleviate concerns all around.

In-Person IEP or Evaluation Meetings in Limestone or Madison county: $150 flat fee (includes preparation, attending the meeting, and written summary and suggestions for next steps for parents).

Virtual IEP or Evaluation Meetings: $100 flat fee (includes preparation, attending the meeting, and written summary and suggestions for next steps for parents).
